Summary

City Week is organised under a partnership between the UK Government, TheCityUK and City & Financial. The City Week Management Committee, which oversees the project, includes representatives from UK Trade & Investment, HM Treasury, TheCityUK and City & Financial. Its governance structure also includes a Board of Patrons, which includes some of the best known names in the world of finance (see Board of Patrons page).
If current trends continue, City Week 2014 will take place at a time when there is a greater degree of optimism about the world’s developed economies, although emerging economies, with the exception of China, have not been able to sustain their growth momentum. As new regulations, designed to improve the financial stability and resilience of the industry, have begun to be implemented across the world, financial institutions have had to adapt their business models to the new order. The changes to the global regulatory framework have had a profound impact on the relative profitability of different sectors and business lines. More broadly, financial institutions have had to redefine their relationship with their stakeholders and society as a whole in order to demonstrate that the lessons of the past have been learned.

Jeroen Dijsselbloem, President of the Eurogroup and Finance Minister, Netherlands speaking about 'Prospects for the Euro and the Eurozone' at City Week 2014
