He is a member of the Mayor of London’s Economic Advisory Board and previously served on the UK Prime Minister’s Business Advisory Council (2018) and Chancellor of the Exchequer’s Advisory Council (2020). In addition, he is a Board Director of Clarkson PLC a FTSE listed UK shipping company.
Mr. Cotzias was formerly Chief Executive Officer of Bloomberg’s Industry Group - Bloomberg's non-financial news and research division. He joined Bloomberg in 2001 as Chief Counsel.
Prior to joining Bloomberg, Mr. Cotzias was a senior mergers and acquisitions lawyer at Denton Wilde Sapte (now Dentons), one of the United Kingdom’s largest law firms. There, he advised on mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and initial public offerings across sectors including media, telecommunications, technology, and energy. From 1998 to 2000, he served as Chief Counsel of the firm’s Moscow office.
Mr. Cotzias holds a Bachelor’s degree in Modern History and Politics and a law degree from the London School of Economics (University of London). He graduated with honours in the English Law Society Final Examinations and is a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales.
