Sian Hurrell is Head of Capital Markets Europe and Global Head of Sales, Relationship Management and Structuring within Global Markets. As part of these roles, Sian collaborates with global business heads across Capital Markets to develop, align, and execute strategy and to ensure effective governance of the European capital markets business. Sian also leads the development and execution of the Global Markets client strategy.

Sian joined RBC in August 2013 and has held a wide range of roles including Head of European Fixed Income and Currencies, Global Head of FX, and Head of Global Markets Europe. Sian has considerable experience in delivering Global Markets products and solutions to a wide array of clients including corporates, pension funds and asset and wealth managers. Sian has over 30 years of experience working in capital markets in the UK and APAC in a variety of management, sales, and distribution roles. Prior to RBC, Sian worked at Royal Bank of Scotland (now NatWest Markets) as Head of European Financial Institution Sales.

Sian is a member of the Capital Markets Operating Committee (OC), Global Markets OC, European Executive Committee (EC) and chairs the Capital Markets Europe EC. Sian is also one of the Executive Sponsors of the European Global Markets Analyst and Associate Council. Sian has also represented RBC on a number of industry boards including the FICC Market Standards Board, the Bank of England’s Joint Steering Committee, the Bank of Canada’s Canadian Foreign Exchange Committee, the International Capital Markets Association and recently completed a seven year term as a member of the Board of International Swaps and Derivatives Association (ISDA) where she served as Chair of the Nominations Committee.

Sian has a BA Hons degree from the University of Leeds in the UK
