Julia Reinaud is the Senior Director for Europe at Breakthrough Energy, where she has worked since 2018. With over 20 years of experience in the energy and climate field, she is a seasoned business developer with a strong track record of leading international initiatives and integrating sustainability and innovation into public policy and business strategies.
At Breakthrough Energy, Julia has, among other responsibilities, helped build strategic partnerships with the European Commission and the European Investment Bank. These include Breakthrough Energy Ventures Europe, a €100 million fund supporting leading European clean energy entrepreneurs, and the EU–Catalyst partnership, which aims to mobilize up to €820 million between 2022 and 2026 to accelerate the deployment and commercialization of climate technologies—such as clean hydrogen, sustainable aviation fuels, direct air capture, and long-duration energy storage. She also contributed to a similar initiative with the UK Government.
Before joining Breakthrough Energy, Julia held leadership roles at the European Climate Foundation, ClimateWorks Foundation, and the Institute for Industrial Productivity, where she led programs focused on energy, innovation and industrial decarbonization. She began her career as an analyst at the International Energy Agency (IEA) and has worked across Europe, the United States, China, and India.
Julia holds a PhD with distinction in Economics and Industrial Strategy from Université Paris Dauphine.
Julia sits on the board of Mission Possible Partnership and is a member of the Mission Innovation Technical Advisory Group.
