Gavin Lewis is Managing Director at BlackRock. He is responsible for the strategic direction and growth of the UK Institutional Client Business which encompasses Defined Contribution, Defined Benefit and Local Government Pension Scheme segments. He is a member of the UK Executive Committee and the EMEA Institutional Leadership Team. Previous to this Gavin led BlackRock Local Government Pension Scheme business and has held several leadership roles at Vanguard Asset Management including Head of UK Institutional and Wholesale Distribution, Head of UK Retirement and Head of European Consultant Relations. Gavin has also held positions UBS Asset Management and Russell Investments.

Gavin holds a BA in History and Politics from the University of London.

Gavin is a published author, his debut book The Opportunity Index examines the economics of inequality. He is also the founder of a Financial Education Program which equips secondary school pupils attending schools in disadvantaged areas with the tools and aspirations to enter the corporate world.

Gavin is a trustee of the Old Vic Theatre Trust, the NFL UK Foundation and is a Patron for the charity Hope in Haringey. He has received the Freedom of the City of London for services to Diversity Equity and Inclusion and has been recognised by Morehouse College for Services to Social Justice. Gavin has also been recognised by and the Black British Business Awards as the Senior Financial Services Professional of the year in 2020, and is listed as one of the top 30 Black Professionals by the Powerlist’s, Power in the City bi-annual ranking in 2019, 2021 and 2023.
