Bim was first elected as the Member of Parliament for Hitchin and Harpenden in 2017 and was re-elected in 2019. He was appointed as Economic Secretary to the Treasury (Minister for Financial Services and City of London) in 2023. Having being educated at Oxford University, before entering Parliament, Bim spent ten years in the City of London; first as a corporate lawyer at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and Simpson Thacher & Bartlett, then moving into banking in restructuring and strategy as a Senior Executive (Vice President) at HSBC.

Before being appointed to the Government, in Parliament he served as Chair of several cross-Party groups, including the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Renewable and Sustainable Energy and the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Financial Markets & Services, as well as being the founder and Chairman of the Regulatory Reform Group, a new group of leading Conservative MPs working to reform the British regulatory system. In 2022, he served as Conservative Party Vice Chairman.

Bim is also a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and trustee of several charities.
