As City Week closes its doors until next year it’s clear that the event is fast becoming “the must attend” event for senior policy makers and other stakeholders in global financial services. The high quality speaker profiles and the topics covered attracted significant international financial media interest. Click here to see some revealing interviews recorded live at the Mermaid Conference Centre in the heart of the City of London.

City Week was established in 2010 in order to provide a high level, annual forum for the discussion of current issues facing the international financial services community. This exclusive event brings together the senior management from both the providers and users of international financial services with politicians, government officials, regulators and others who are contributing to the reshaping of the global industry. It is a truly international forum that attracts participation from a large number of countries.

City Week is organised under a partnership between the UK Government (in the form of UK Trade & Investment), TheCityUK (the independent, cross-sector voice for UK financial and professional services) and City & Financial (a leading research-based conference and publishing company). The City Week Management Committee, which oversees the project, includes representatives from UK Trade & Investment, HM Treasury, TheCityUK and City & Financial.

City Week 2013 takes place at a time when so much in the financial services industry across the globe is changing. Old practices are being questioned and re-assessed and previously accepted wisdoms are being overturned. Work continues to forge a new, international regulatory framework to improve the financial stability and resilience of the industry. Meanwhile, the business models of financial institutions are undergoing dramatic change and outward looking behavioural values are being reinforced as financial institutions seek to reflect and recast their role in society and re-define their relationships with their principal stakeholders. All this takes place during a period of great economic uncertainty, with the Eurozone crisis yet to be comprehensively resolved and the global economic slowdown affecting all the world’s economies, even those of emerging markets.

I am delighted to recommend City Week to all potential participants. This unique event, which is organised by a partnership between the UK Government, TheCityUK and City & Financial, brings together the major users and providers of international financial services with senior representatives from governments across the world to discuss current challenges and opportunities. City Week provides an opportunity not only to hear from an exceptional panel of speakers and participate in discussions on crucial issues, but also to network with your global peer group. Given the importance of international financial services to global growth, this event is a great support to the mutual interest we all share in our future prosperity.
